This jig was developed and demonstrated in the current guild build as part of the wall-hanging cabinet series (it was originally inspired by this wood magazine jig).. In most cases, the dado will be 1/4″ deep or less so you can make the cut in one pass. clamp the jig to a piece of scrap and make a cut, keeping the base of the router firmly against the fence, cutting a notch in the other part of the jig. this notch will be used to align the jig with your layout marks. on the straight and narrow. Exact-width dado jig. here's a jig for routing bookcase or cabinet-side dadoes that exactly match the thickness of your shelf stock. better yet, no special bits are needed. just use an ordinary straight bit and a guide bushing. (we used a 1" guide bushing and a 1 ⁄ 2" straight bit.).

In the weekend wall shelf episode, i showed you how to use a parallel jig to create dados. but the jig was originally created for making coves at the tablesaw. so here’s a special jig made specifically for the purpose of creating dados with your router. the best part is, you can get exact-width. The result is a tailor-cut dado that fits like no other. once the jig is set, you can machine all your dadoes for that thickness without having to reset the jig. though it can work with any straight edge, the perfect fit dado jig is designed to fit into the channel of our all-in-one low-profile contractor clamps (e.g. #32777, sold separately)..
